Is a toothache a dental emergency?
Often, yes. A toothache that’s severe, keeps you up at night, or comes with swelling or fever usually points to infection or a cracked tooth and needs same-day care. Mild sensitivity that comes and goes can wait a day or two. Call us and describe the tooth pain, and we’ll tell you how soon to come in.
Is a knocked-out tooth an emergency?
Yes, and it’s the most time-sensitive one. A permanent tooth has the best chance of being saved if it’s back in place within about an hour. Is facial swelling an emergency?

Is a broken or chipped tooth an emergency?

A broken tooth that hurts, bleeds, or exposes the darker inner layer is an emergency, so call us the same day. Rinse gently and keep any pieces you can find.
Is a lost crown or filling an emergency?
Usually not a same-day emergency, but don’t leave it for weeks. The exposed tooth is fragile and often sensitive, and bacteria can reach it quickly. Call us within a day or two, and keep the crown if you have it. Avoid chewing on that side until we can recement the crown or place a new dental crown or filling.
